{"id":12933,"date":"2024-11-25T10:29:10","date_gmt":"2024-11-25T09:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esk-eltern.de\/news\/successful-information-event-on-partial-performance-disorder-and-cafe-dys-in-november\/"},"modified":"2024-12-12T21:29:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T20:29:00","slug":"successful-information-event-on-partial-performance-disorder-and-cafe-dys-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esk-eltern.de\/en\/news\/successful-information-event-on-partial-performance-disorder-and-cafe-dys-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Successful information event on partial performance disorder and Caf\u00e9 Dys in November"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Friday 15 November, the ESK Parents\u2018 Association invited Ms Netrval from <a href=\"&#x2019;https:\/\/Dyspraxie.lu&#x2018;\" target=\"&#x2019;_blank&#x2018;\" rel=\"&#x2019;noreferrer\" noopener=\"\">Dyspraxie.lu<\/a> to give a talk entitled: \u201cHow the iPad can avoid the cognitive double burden for Dys pupils\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p>This highlighted how students&#8217; writing and reading difficulties and their challenges with organisation and memory retention can be overcome through the use of technology such as a digital tablet and its text-to-speech (having the tablet read aloud) and speech-to-text (speaking into the tablet to make it write) functions.<\/p>\n\n<p>Families, some teachers and school staff were present. A big thank you to the European School Karlsruhe for providing the auditorium and their support.<\/p>\n\n<p>The discussions during the question and answer session were fruitful and emphasised the need for this:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow the procedure for setting up an ISA (Intensive Support Agreement) with the support coordinator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find more para-medical professionals such as occupational therapists and speech therapists in the Karlsruhe region who speak French and English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Mrs Magali Netrval also gave two two-hour training sessions in French and English for the school&#8217;s teaching staff in the morning.<\/p>\n\n<p>On Saturday, 16th of november, the PA organized a Caf\u00e9 Dys in the presence of Ms Magali Netrval at the Mitmachladen in Waldstadt. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.badischer-landesverein.de\/angebote-2\/quartiersprojekte\/quartiersprojekt-waldstadt\/mitmach-laden-waldstadt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mitmach-Laden Waldstadt<\/a><br\/>&#13;\nThanks to the Badischer Landesverein for making the room available.<\/p>\n\n<p>Some families were present. They were able to see and test the use of the iPad for dictation, speech synthesis, etc. Children and families were able to get to know each other.<br\/>Families were able to share their experiences, socialise with practitioners&#8230; a fruitful meeting to feel less alone and move forward!<\/p>\n\n<p>Persons wishing to receive a presentation of the conference can contact M\u00e9lanie G\u00e9rard
