The start of a new school year
The start of a new school year
Dear parents, students, teachers and staff,
Welcome to the beginning of a new school year!
We hope you all enjoyed the summer holidays and that you are ready for an exciting new year.
We, the Parents’ Association, are certainly looking forward to new challenges and opportunities and will do our utmost to keep you informed of school’s activities and developments and be ready with help and advice for all.
Over the summer we have worked hard to get our new website ready for the beginning of term and even though it is still being developed, we are very proud of it. Our aim is to improve communication with an up-to-date calendar, accurate information flow and a user-friendly site that everyone can use. We also take great pleasure in presenting our new logo which represents strength in community - parents and school interlinked together.
I would like to remind you briefly about the first important dates:
First day of School, Wednesday 2nd September. Come looking your best for the school photographs for secondary pupils. Primary pupils’ photographs will be taken on Thursday 3rd September. Kindergarten photographs will be taken on Tuesday 8th September. Mr Høyem will welcome new families in the aula on Thursday 3rd September at 8.30am. See you there.
Monday, 7th September, will be the first day of the new Canteen, run by Scolarest, so don’t forget to bring a packed lunch until then. You will have received details about the new canteen service and this information can also be found on our website. Scolarest will be at the school on Thursday 3rd September if you have any questions or need help.
On Saturday 3rd October there will be a ‘Welcome Back Party’ organised by the Parents’ Association in co-operation with the school. Details will follow soon, but please put this date in your calendar so you will not miss it. It is going to be great fun for all!
The ‘Welcome Back Party’ will be a multi-cultural event where every language section can present its own cultural highlights through food, drinks and games. It will be a fun occasion for new parents, children and teachers to get to know each other as well as meet parents and children already at the school. It will be a great way to start the school year and welcome all those new to the school, helping them to feel quickly part of our community. The day will start at 10am with our traditional Bike Ride from Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof to school where there will be lots of bike related activities, including the ADAC competition.
Details of the Welcome Back party and the Bike Ride are on our new website. Sign up early!!
We at the PA are especially looking forward to seeing you on Saturday 3rd October but are also available every Wednesday morning in our offices on the first floor of the Admin Building.
Here’s to a great 2009/2010 for all…
