PA and ESK management meeting 19.1.11 report
PA and ESK management meeting 19.1.11 report
Admin Board Meeting on 27.01.11
Mr Hoyem announced the following points:
A supplementary budget for 2011 is necessary. The “fonds de réserve” (reserve funds) shows a deficit that has to be reduced.
Deep cutbacks have been demanded from the school for the 2012 budget.
A new admin post was agreed for 2011, but the post was refused later in retrospect. This new post request will be made again this year.
Italian mother-tongue teaching for SWALS pupils in the 4th class GS (cat III families) has had to be stopped on 17.1.2011 even though the school had explained that the classes were following the rules for mother-tongue teaching for SWALS at the last Admin Board meeting. Mr Kivinen and Mrs Dengler confirmed that the correct procedures had been followed in this case. (see minutes from the Last Admin Board meeting). However, the Commission has sent a reprimand stating that the Italian Mother-tongue lessons in this case were illegal and €25,000 fine has been levied on the school.
Mr Hoyem requested that the PA supports the school on this matter at the next Admin Board meeting.
Budget
The PA requested a meeting so that the School budget can be gone through and explained before the next Admin Board meeting. Mr Dannenmaier suggested a meeting on the 26.1.11 which the PA accepted.
Kantine
Buildings: The management showed plans for an extension for the canteen building. There will be 36 new places for teachers and staff as well as a coffee corner. The extension will cost €150,000. Mr Hoyem is looking for sponsors and requested that Mrs Ribeiro (and/or ITU) to support the initiative.
Contract with Medirest: Mrs Ribeiro explained the current situation with the canteen committee. Mr Hoyem announced that the school was prepared to sign a bilateral contract with Medirest when there is no financial risk for the school. It must be ensured that there is a PA/canteen group for administrative purposes.
Mrs Ribeiro left the meeting.
Summer Holiday camps
ITU and the PA supports the possibility for the organisation of summer camps offering child care in the first 2 weeks of the July after school finishes. These will take place on school grounds and will be available for ESK and ITU children. The school management welcomed the initiative and confirmed that it would cover utility costs including hausmeister. Mr Dannenmaier requested further information of the programme for the 2 weeks, so that cleaners can be employed efficiently. The pilot project will be evaluated in the Autumn.
SAC
Mr Hoyem thanked the PA for their work with the SAC team. The current SAC plan will be considered as a prototype. It will be introduced by Mr Pialoglou at the forthcoming Admin Board meeting. Afterwards the SAC plan will be shown to the parents.
PA party on the 11.2.11
The PA informed the management about the party and explained that the aim of the PA was to thank the parent class reps, the teachers and the school staff for all their hard work. Also the party was to promote community spirit for all the members of the school. The management was asked to pass on this information and to encourage all their colleagues to come to the party.
Project days - Open Day - Book Prizes
Mr Pialoglou and Mrs Pavlicikova will inform the PA of the school’s plans after the planning meeting in the 1st week of February.
The PA announced that it was happy to find book sponsors for the book prizes to be given to the winning pupils. Mr Pialoglou will inform the subject coordinators about the prizes.
The Oberschule will organise projects again this year, and the PA will make funds available to support them.
EuroSport (3rd week in March)
The PA requested that the School communicates more fully over the progress for EuroSport. At the moment, qualification trials are taking place, and by the end of wk 3 the participants lists will be posted. Mr Guerra is responsible for the organisation of this. The PA’s suggestion that trips to Frankfurt for the supporters of the ESK teams should be organised, was not possible because Frankfurt have already said that there is little or no space for onlookers. The PA requested that the ESK teams are officially presented to the whole school. Mr Pialoglou agreed.
Admissions policy and school fees
The PA requested from the school management information on ESK’s pupil admissions policy.
Mr Hoyem said that currently he could admit more cat III pupils but this would cause the cat II contract parents to protest. Changing from cat II to cat III is possible when families find their contracts with their employer have changed from an ex-pat to standard german employee status.
The PA suggested that there was a good argument for accepting more cat III families - namely increasing the numbers of french pupils to strengthen the french section, and if the pupil numbers increase, the overall fixed costs of the school are reduced per pupil, and this would enable the school to bring down the current level of cat II fees. The PA explained that families with cat II contracts are very unhappy with the steep increases in fees, and they wish for more stability.
French Section
Mr Brun has presented her project for attracting new cat II pupils for the French section to the school management. The PA said that a meeting with Mrs Brun has already taken place and a further meeting has been planned in the next few days. The PA is happy to support Mrs Brun within the PA’s bounds of possibility.
Any other business
The PA asked what the school policy is in the case of providing duplicate school reports for divorced or separated couples. ESK said the school report is given to the parent who has custody the child. The school must be officially notified with this information.
The first school day for next September is still not confirmed.
The question whether the 3rd June is or is not a holiday will be answered by the school at a future date.
