Open day 2010 and May dance

The Open Day was very successful this year. There were many interesting projects organized for both primary and secondary. The PA helped finance several projects this year and the outcome was great! The weather was fantastic and everybody had a good time.
The PA presented their new Euroboutique collection and it was very well received by students, parents and teachers. Our sponsoring partner, Intersport Hoffmann, was also present with waveboards and roller-blades and the students were taught how to ride them by professional instructors. In addition, they offered 20 free tickets for the BG Karlsruhe Basketball final game that same evening.

Many parents donated cakes again for the International Café and we thank you very much for this! It made the International Café a big success and the profit will be used for future school events, as we did this year with the project days.

We introduced a new item at Open Day: book prizes. Subject co-ordinators in secondary were asked to pick 1-2 students who deserved special attention this year for their achievements in school, their commitment or for any other special reason. We managed to honour 15 students and Mr Hoyem and Mr Da Torre handed out the prizes in the canteen in the presence of the proud parents and teachers. Our special thanks goes to the sponsors who were so kind to provide us with the book prizes. They are: ITU, Siemens, hi.net@ and
Sophisticated Living and the ESK. We hope this is the start of a new tradition for many years to come.

A big thanks goes to all the parents that helped us in making the Open Day yet another great event! It feels good to see how everybody is willing to help and also is enjoying being part of this special school community. So many different cultures and people, linked together to make our school a special place to come to.

2010 has been a year of social events especially planned to make our school community dynamic. We have arranged for you several occasions to meet each other and enjoy our school together. After a very successful dinner party in January where we danced to the Music of DJ Markus Zilly till very late, the idea came up to organize a dance party for all parents, staff and friends. The “tanz-dich-in-den-Mai-Party” took place on 30 April in the canteen. And again, it was a very enjoyable event. Parents, teachers and many friends joined us and we had a lovely evening, with nice cocktails, summer drinks, a special Mai Bock (beer), spicy snacks as well as great dancing and salsa lessons from DJ Zilly. In the end we all came to the conclusion that this traditional German party should be repeated next year and we hope that more of you will join us!

Our final social event is coming up on Sunday, 20th June - our annual Summer Fete. Information will come out soon so please check the website and your emails. Don’t miss it!
