News from the New Canteen
Presentation from the new caterer on 4th June in Conference Room
We are even closer to our goal of offering the pupils freshly prepared food in a bright, new canteen. The new caterer, Scolarest, has now been selected and the Canteen Committee have arranged for them to present themselves and their automated ordering system to all parents on Thursday, 4th June at 5.30pm in the Conference Room in the administration building. If you cannot make it on the 4th June, do not worry as a full report of their presentation will be sent to all parents afterwards. We are really looking forward to having Scolarest in the canteen and we know that they will offer a good lunch experience for all the pupils in September.
Theatre performance in the Aula – 26th June
The ESK french Theatre Workshop is proudly presenting the comedy, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Molière in the original french, on Friday 26th June in the Aula at 7.30pm.
The 16 actors have been preparing for the play since the beginning of the school year and have put in a lot of hard work to ensure a successful evening for all.
If you are interested in going to the play please contact Stéphanie Villette [villette.stephanie@t-online.de] for further information. The tickets are FREE and there is also a complimentary glass of wine or juice for all the audience.
The Parents’ Association whole-heartedly supports all activities that take place outside the school’s regular timetable, both financially and with help and advice when needed. If anyone (parent or teacher) has an idea for an extra-curricula activity that may be of interest to any of the pupils of the school, please contact us at the PA.

Summary report on the Primary School Education Council meeting,18th May
There have been many projects for the GS this school year. Here are just some of them:
The Harmonic Tower has been a focus point for the children with teachers, religion and ethic teachers all working together on topics such as school rules to improve the good feeling in the Grundschule. Social awareness was also encouraged through projects such as Christmas in a Shoe Box and the Burrundi projects.
Healthy life styles have been promoted through projects such as “Fit macht Fun”, the bike riding programme, the Garden project and a first aid programme for the older children.
Kindergarten have done a research project with support from Siemens and great work has been done by the choir ESKADO and all those working on EuroJunior which celebrates its 5th birthday this year.
The ESKAFilm project was started this year using IC technology and an art project by the pupils in collaboration with art teachers from the grundschule, oberschule and the well-known artist O.H. Hajek was unveiled at the beginning of June.
There have also been many events at the GS this year, including the sport fest, the Karlsruhe city marathon, the Light Athletic Championships, Swimming Championships, “Kinder laufen für Kinder”, concerts, theatre performances, the Autumn Festival and the Light Festival, an EU competition where some of ESK’s pupils won the state prize.
Well done to everyone!
The Grundschule received positive inspector reports this year. However due to continuing delays from the City building authorities, the development of the Grundschule playground has not progressed as we would have wished.
Plans have been approved to renovate the toilets in Bau B.
The representative from ITU said that they were keen to strengthen connections with the school next year by working together on school projects that benefit the children.
It was requested that the first step parents should take if they have any concerns or issues with the progress of their children, is to talk with the class teachers. Very often, this is the simplest way of resolving problems, but if it is then necessary, the parent class representative can be asked to mediate and matter can then be referred to the deputy director.

New extra-curricula language club
There have been quite a few parents who have expressed interest in the language club extra-curricula activity and they have already signed up for the trial period in June.
Canteen
Ramil Nasyrow, the current president of the Canteen Committee informed the meeting that the financial auditors have been appointed to check the canteen’s financial situation. The contract with the new caterers, Scolarest can now be signed and the Canteen Committee has now obtained the necessary permits for the new equipment necessary for the kitchens. Everything is in place now for the introduction of new school lunches at ESK. Further information will be sent out to parents after the presentation by Scolarest on June 4th.
Mr Nasyrow will also be stepping down this year as president of the Canteen Committee. The committee has 4 parent representatives on the board (out of 7 members) and the PA would like to take this opportunity to highlight that next term there will be elections for representatives. If any parents are interested in joining the team responsible for ensuring healthy meals for our children, please contact us (evesk@eskar.org) .
New PA Website
After a very thorough tender procedure and a very close call in the final vote for a new webdesign company, the PA has chosen TACOffice Marketing to partner the PA in developing the new website. TACOffice has already worked with the school, and their team were responsible for the design and look/promotion for the EuroSport event. The PA are looking forward to a productive working relationship with TACOffice . The first stage of the website should be completed this summer in time for the beginning of term. We are looking for parents who want to assist us in managing the different parts of the website. Please contact us if you have a special area of interest and would like to join the website team.
Next meeting PA committee meeting – 10th June
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 10th June at which the final organisational details for the Summer fest will be discussed.
Don’t Forget – Exams in the Aula - please be as quiet as possible when you are outside the school.
