The Canteen Committee 2010

Dear Class Reps,

As we announced at out PA party, the Canteen Committee has been newly formed and is now charged with defining its role.

The Canteen Committee comprises representatives from the Parents’ Association and the school. Our aim, in the name of parents and school, is to work together with   Scolarest to ensure the efficient running of the Canteen and the serving of high quality food at lunch time. Transparent communication is also at the foreground of our goals, and we hope that soon more information will be available on the PA website.

Our main priority at the moment is to reduce the long queues for students and teachers. In the meanwhile we are speaking to the school management about the possibility, on the one hand, to modify the lunch period for the OS, or otherwise influence the decisions of the management, on behalf of the students on this topic.

Students who have forgotten their cards or who have no money credited to their canteen account, have to write their name down on a list when they receive their food and this contributes to the slowness of the queue.

Please speak to the parents once again at the forthcoming parents’ evening, and ask them to make sure that there is enough money credited to their child’s canteen card. This situation is more of an issue in the Oberschule than the Grundschule.

Students should make it a habit to test their cards at the cash terminal standing in the entrance of the Canteen building and check how much money is on the card.

There will be in future a “fast lane” for students who have their credited ID card with them. Those students who have forgotten their card, or who have no credit must stand and wait in another queue. We hope that this new arrangement will result in shorter waiting times.

We also need parents’ support in the canteen to supervise the pupils at lunch time. If any parents are interested in helping, please contact your parent representative, or contact the Parents’ Association directly.

Finally, we would be very grateful if you would help persuade the parents in your class to become members of the Parents’ Association. With their support the PA can work in many varied ways to represent the school community.
