Security
Parents are confused with the rules and regulations set down for the security at the school gate. At times it seems extraordinarily strict and at other times almost non-existent. Sometimes, ID not only has to be shown but is then withheld by security to be collected again when they leave. Parents totally support the need for security at the school gate, but request that the procedures are clearly outlined and communicated in writing to everyone, so that admittance in to the school can be done...

Joint Parent Class Representatives and PA Committee meeting 9th/10th March 2010

This report amalgamates the comments and discussions from both meetings.

Cindy van Velzen welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending the meetings. She invited comments and feedback from the class reps.

Forms and documents
It was requested that all forms and documents that are given to pupils to take home are also made available on the school website as a downloadable document, as sometimes the forms are lost or damage and cannot be filled out satisfactorily by the parents.

Summer holidays
The summer holidays are very long. This year the pupils have 9 weeks holiday...

Sehr geehrte Eltern,

Anbei die Vorab-Einschreibungs-Formulare für das kommende Schuljahr 2010/2011 für die Sprach- und Kulturkurse des italienischen Konsulats an der Europäischen Schule.
Wir versuchen ab September einen oder mehrere dieser Kurse direkt im Anschluss des Schulunterricht zustande zu bringen.

Falls Interesse besteht für Ihre Kinder des Kindergarten, der Grundschule oder bis zur 3. Oberschule, bitte die Unterlagen ausfüllen und bis zum 26.3.2010 bei Signora Herrmann, Sekretariat Oberschule abgeben.

Please donate clothes for the earthquake victims in Chile. There will be collection boxes in the basement of the Administration Building all this week up until the East holidays. Clear out those winter clothes that you don't want any more as it is soon Winter in Chile.

new “wind instruments” music project for the students in the 1st year OS

Dear 5th Grade school parents

The European School is going to start a new “wind instruments” music project for the school year 2010/11 for the students in the first year secondary school. Your child will have the unique chance to learn to play a wind instrument (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone …) under the tutorship of highly qualified music teachers, and in small groups; she/he will also be part of an ensemble that will practice during the normal music lessons.
Generally speaking, pupils enjoy playing together and their access to music will enhance their cultural appreciation.

Members were asked to present issues that had been brought to their attention that were of concern of the parents.
There was another request that the school be asked to send out information as early as possible so that parents can organise their week effectively. Lately, the information about appointments for the parents’ evening was only sent out the day before for some parents.
Pupils are also being asked to purchase books for ICT that includes some software. Cindy was requested to ask the school...

Appointment of new deputy-director

Mr Hoyem informed the meeting that the interviews for the new deputy-director for the Oberschule will be taking place in June.
